Hey there!

I'm Daria Keenan

I'm a light chasing, mojito drinking, chocolate eating, nighthawk who is obsessed with my photography career. In 2013, hubby and I  spontaneously moved to the Cayman Islands on a whim. I traded the corporate heels for flip flops and have been photographing families and babies on the shores of Seven Mile Beach ever since!

Cake Smash Tips for Parents

These sessions are really simple and fun and if you’re purchasing a cake or making one yourself here’s a couple of things to keep in mind:

  • No fondant! Make sure the cake is buttercream or a soft whipped topping so your child can easily dig in. I had a session where the parents brought in a beautiful fondant cake but we laughed so hard  when it came for baby to smash it!

  • Consider the colour! Try to avoid red velvet or chocolate. One looks like a murder scene and the other well….I’ll let your imagination run free here. Although quite flipping hilarious unless you have a Halloween themed session probably best to stick to basics 😉

  • Have absolutely zero expectations. I always tell my parents there’s a 50/50 chance their child will either love the cake and just have the best time or they will be absolutely in hysterics over it haha. Either way it makes for great photos so don’t you worry your pretty little face, mama!
