It’s always so nice to photograph new families and I always look forward to new faces when I visit London. I met Ilona years ago and we’ve stayed connected on Facebook forever. When she reached out to me about doing her family portraits I was super excited to photograph her beautiful family!
We had a great session! The kids were so great and took well to my craziness! We got lucky with a gorgeous sunset that made for some beautiful golden images.
What to wear?
Their wardrobe is perrrfect. I love the warm earth tones and mom’s pop of colour really adds lots of visual interest! This is a perfect example of coordinating without matching. Long gone are the days of matching white tops and bottoms. Trying to decide on family outfits can seem overwhelming and difficult to know where to even start!
- I suggest always starting with mama bear! Ladies, pick an outfit that you love first! We are always the toughest to dress SO start there.
- Lay the clothes out on the floor! Starting with your outfit first and adding on everyone else’s. See what they all look like next to each other. Swap things out and play around with patterns, colours and accessories! Have fun and channel your inner fashion stylist self!
- Use me!! Please do. Get my opinion, send me your choices. We can work it out together.
- Lastly, don’t stress! If this is not your thing and you can’t be bothered then forget about it! At the end of the day you’re getting family portraits done because you want me to capture the genuine and joyful moments….documenting the love and connection. Wardrobe is secondary to it all.
I love learning about your family through my Discovery Questionnaire. It really helps me prepare for our session and helps me find ways to approach your kids. I was really looking forward to Makhi’s dabbing abilities! haha
